Dancer Border The Dance Conservatory

Miss Archana

Miss Archana discovered her love for dance at the age of six. At the age of eleven, she began formal training in Bharatanatyam (Indian Classical Dance). At the same time she also enrolled in classes for Kathak, another Indian Classical Dance. She also began researching and learning various folk dance forms from around India.

After her Arangetram (graduation performance) at 18, Miss Archana began assisting and performing alongside her Guru. She also won state and national recognition in several dance competitions and for her solo performances. At the same time, she began her college education at the University of Delhi in India.

After moving to the United States in 1997, Miss Archana continued her college education at Michigan State University. As a student there, Miss Archana continued performing at various student events. She also continued performing at the Lansing area temple and teaching Bharatanatyam to children in the Indian community. In 2000, Miss Archana graduated from MSU with a bachelor's degree in Journalism.

She continued to perform in the Lansing area and then later in Grand Rapids until 2005. After spending some time focusing on her career marriage and motherhood, Miss Archana decided to return to her passion for dance. After moving back to the Lansing area in 2008, she began performing at the area temple again. She is very excited to share her passion for dance and her culture in this new adventure.
